Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952, is an American stage acting, film and television actress. She was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for her part in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also well-known for her portrayal of president Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica and as President's wife on Independence Day and for her leading part in Donnie Darko as the title character's mother.
