Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Alongside receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first musician of Indian origin to perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a student and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her early years were split between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. She is often seen performing together with her dad, and has been doing so for many years. She released her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Since she's performed at every major stage in across the globe, she's performance career is extensive. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to performing in music. Bapi: The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in film in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's profession is only going to continue to expand and develop. We can look at seeing lots of new things from her. Anoushka Shakar was born in England was a major part of her time between London Delhi. When she moved to California she finished high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday Anoushka first made an appearance playing the sitar in front of the audience four years following her nine-year-old father. Her father traveled around the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. As she was in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her artistry and musicianship as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
